On Sunday we celebrated my parents 55th anniversary. I don’t know of many people that have made it to that many years. Most couples separate or they get too old and pass on. I have been lucky. To begin with, my folks are older than most. I remember growing up I always had the oldest parents at school. My friends thought I lived with my grandparents. They are very old world in many ways. Especially Dad. Mom is learning to move with the times as us kids teach her new things.

I’m just glad that they are still here with us. Dad’s health isnt the greatest, but he seems to be too stubborn to let go…lol. I have a feeling he will still be around for a while. As with most Canadian seniors, my parents have been flocking south with all the other Snowbirds for many years now. There were a couple times where dad was too sick to go. He cant do the driving anymore and the big motorhome is a bit too much for mom to drive. She can do it, but she really doesn’t want to. So instead my brother and his wife go along. The four of them did their first trip together last year and had a great time. This year will be another fun adventure too. They leave this weekend.

Hopefully everything will go smoothly and they will all come home safely. Mom has promised to take a ton of pictures with her new digital camera we got her for Christmas.  I’m looking forward to seeing them all and hearing all the stories about their trip. So to Mom and Dad, Happy Anniversary and I hape there are more to come. I can only wish to have my marriage last as long as yours. I might get there if I live into my 90’s!

Funny! When I was a teenager and was out with my Mom and her sisters, there were many times when people asked us if there were anymore sisters.
In high school I was the one with the youngest parents.
I guess, 14 years makes quite a difference!
I love the picture! Thanks for posting.

As an “older” mom to my youngest, I kind of worry about that–being seen as the oldest parent and acting like it as well. And of course we worry more about our health because we want to be around for all of her big life events. Congratulations to your parents on 55 years–that is phenomenal!!
