We have lived in our condo for 11 years. In this time we have only washed the carpets. It didn’t need paint at first. Now it shows that it’s looking old in here. So the reno’s have started. It’s going to be a slow process, but worth it. The first project was the bathroom. It needed some updating. Amazing what some paint and new fixtures can do to a room. We still need to do the flooring but that will have to wait.
This is before….I really hated the lighting. The colour on the walls is like someone had stained them from years of smoking.
And now after… still need to attach the toilet roller holder. No more towel bar, only hooks.
Mr Fish has his place.
I added a few friends to my tiny fountain.
I am very happy with the results. Turned out perfect.
I had this old cabinet that we were using in the bathroom for our towels. I decided it needed a redo.
I didn’t want to sand it. I found out about chalk paint. I wiped it clean and gave it a quick sanding. Basically I rubbed sandpaper over it for all of 5 minutes. Then I mixed up my chalk paint at started. It took 2 coats but I liked how it turned out.
Chalk Paint is very easy to make. 2 tbs Plaster of Paris mixed with 1/2 cup water. Then add it to 1 cup of the paint you are going to use. Its that easy. You can also look it up yourself. There are many recipes and lots of ideas out there.
I have been looking at all my old jeans that I just didn’t want to throw out and I decided that there had to be something I could make with them. Off to google I went! Wow, I didn’t know that there were so many things I could make. I took some old wide legged jeans and started pulling them apart. The leftover parts will go to an different project.
Once that was done I found some fabric and took the pockets off some old cargo pants.
Next I measured and measured and figured out my pattern. Once that was done it was all about the cut, cut, snip, snip, sew, sew. Oops, redo, sew, sew….
And this is what I came up with.
I think I did pretty good. It’s not prefect but I do like it. The pockets are just the right size for my phone. I think I will try to back another one but a bit smaller and not so wide.
I had some old flip-flops and decided to try to change them. I cut the plastic parts away.
I then cut some slits on the sides. put some glue (E-6000) in the slit and then pushed the elastic band in with a flathead screwdriver. Put some clamps on and waited over night for it to dry.
It’s that simple! Just figure out where you want to have the straps and cut more slits on the sides and clamp and dry.
What you need:
- Flip flops
- glue I use E-6000
- fabric or elastic
I have started on my next ones…
I have been busy making jewellery. I would like to try to start-up a tiny business and possibly sell some of my items. I am finding it a bit frustrating. I have created a blog and it’s almost ready. Just a few details to iron out. I know that I could just go on Etsy.com or Artfire.com, but they all cost money, something I don’t have much of. Oh well, I will just keep making stuff and hope that people will want to buy some items.
Things have changed lately. There have been some family issues that needed to be talked about and for the most part they are dealt with. For me, I don’t think they will ever be done. So many things have been brought to the surface again. With time they will sink to the bottom of my mind once more. This time I plan to anchor them for good.
With all my health problems I am finally getting a bit better. I still need to get scoped in September. Which I am hoping will let me know if there is anything seriously wrong. In the mean time I am going on the assumption that I have IBS which it connected to my IC. And here is the weird part, Since the tummy problems started last July, my IC has calmed down. I have had about 6 flare ups this past year. Very odd! I do have small 24 hour flare ups when I get stressed, but I can keep them under control. I’m watching what I eat and drink. It’s been since February since I have had any type of carbonated drinks. I’ve cut back on the fake sugars and no more multi-grains or dairy. Fruits and veggies are my friends. I would give up meat but I still like a bit of bbq chicken now and then.
So there you have it! That’s what’s been going on.
