Ok, I know it sounds weird and disgusting, but trust me, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes.
So what is a bullet proof coffee? Well I thought it was just about dropping a spoonful of butter in your cup.(GROSS!) But Nooo! It’s more than that. I finally researched it until I found some good instructions and recipes that I was willing to try. Most of the stuff I had read just said “add unsalted grass fed butter to your coffee”. Yeah, no. That’s gross. Then I read some more as to why people are doing this and I found a website that explained it all.
The fat helps keep you full. Ok, I understand that since I am eating low carb. But come on, butter in my coffee?? GROSS!
I read some more…. Then decided “i’ll do it!” I need to know what all the fuss is about. The recipe I tried is this..
- 1 tsp gingerbread spice per 2 tbsp of coffee grounds (I used my pumpkin spice)
- 1 tbsp of grass-fed butter (I used regular salted butter)
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil
Sprinkle the gingerbread spice mix into the coffee grounds. Brew the coffee using your preferred method.
Pour hot coffee into a blender. Add grass-fed butter and coconut oil, plus any extras like sweetener if preferred.
Blend for 30-60 seconds until frothy and creamy.
Sprinkle with extra gingerbread spice.
This was the result..
It tasted like I had add some Malibu rum and cream. I really enjoyed it. I am going to try a few different recipes and see which ones I like best. You can also do this with hot cocoa and with teas.
