Shoe Shopping

Gregg and I spent the weekend shoe shopping for me. I love shoes, but I really hate it when I am on a budget and have to bargain shop. We dragged mom out with us on saturday. Thought she might like to go along. We  headed to the Mall and went to every store that had shoes. Trying on pair after pair. Finally deciding that we needed food. After we had a snack at the food court we checked a few more stores in the Mall and found nothing.

We hit one more store then dropped mom off at home. Gregg and I hit Walmart and the Shoe Company. Nothing. Very depressing. Finally we just headed home. On Sunday we went back to the one store that I did like one pair and had put on hold. I tried them but decided not to take them and got 2 other pairs. Interesting how one day makes a difference in finding shoes.

We stopped at mark’s Workwear world and I found sandals there. Three pairs of shoes and all I still need are some flip flops. Which I already know where to buy them. Need to wait for the next paycheck.  At least now I have some shoes again.

I love Costco

I could shop at Costco every day. They just seem to have everything I need. Sure the clothes arent top designers, but I dont really care so much about labels as long as it looks good. I do find it a bit hard to get jeans that fit from there, but I do find other pants that fit. Today Gregg and I were there to pick up his contacts. Once that was done we cruised the isles and looked for anything we might need.

I found a set of make up brushes that I had to have. Last year they had a set and I got them and just love using them. This new set has a tiny travel set which will be perfect in my purse. Gregg got Calvin Klein jeans on the clearance rack. We tasted all the nommy goodness from the sample ladies. Grabbed some foods and headed home.

Really, Costco does save us money and its a good deal.

Oh, yesterday I watched Oprah and it was all about shoes. So today I took my thigh high flat boots out and dropped them off to get repaired. Its so nice that they are bad in style again. I spent a lot of money on those in 1989…lol

New show tonight… “V”  hope its a good one.

Its My Birthday….again

Seems I just had one last year…lol. Wow…42 years old. I cant believe it. Ya know, I’m ok with my age. Sure I’m in my 40’s. Big deal. Soon it will be the 50’s. I just hope I still look young…lol. I think I was lucky and got the young gene in the family. I’m still a hot looking woman…hehe Well at least Gregg says i am and I trust his judgement.

So what am I doing on my special day? Gregg and I are going to have our morning coffee as usual, and then get ready to go over to Mom’s. Pick her up and head to the border. We are going to stop off at Wal-mart and meet up with Mom’s sister Susi for a coffee. After wards we will get back on the road and drive down to Bellis Fair Mall where I will be buying my present. I have been needing new runners and I have decided that I want the Skechers Shape-ups. I hope they help with my back pain and my sore heels when I walk. I sure want to be able to go out walking and not have to stop after 15 minutes from the pain. Its so frustrating to try and get in shape and not have good shoes.

I also need jeans. Since I finally am at my goal weight I need some jeans that I dont have to keep pulling up or have to wear a belt. Plus I dont want stretchy jeans. I cant find any that are normal jeans around here unless they are flared, low riders and cost way too much and I dont do the skinny jean, I just dont like them. I like a boot cut or straight leg and long. At least a 34 inseam. Most are 32 and that is too short for me. But why do jeans have to have lycra in them? I want regular old school jeans…lol

Well maybe I’ll find them at the Mall. After the shopping is done we are going to take mom for some real Mexican food. Gregg and I have both been craving Tacos el Pastor. I want Mom to try them too. I think she will enjoy them.

Well, going to go start dinner. Its House and heroes tonight.

Face Creams

For the last 2 months I have been searching for a new face cream. I was using Olay Total Effects For the past year and really liked it, but ran out. I also noticed that my skin was looking a bit dull. So that’s why I was hunting for a new one.

Since I have picked Clinique as my makeup, I did look at getting their creams. I checked the ingredients and tons of reviews and for the most part their line of creams are good, but not what I was looking for. I then found out that Costco was selling a few different brands. I trust Costco with a lot of  brands they carry. Well, they have signed a deal with Borghese and have the “Costco Signature Borghese Collection. At Christmas time I had bought the makeup brush set and I just l love it. So I figured, it’s Costco, I can return it if I don’t like it, I bought the day cream.

After 3 weeks of using it, I returned it. Not that I didn’t like it. I really think its a great product, but it’s not for my type of skin. I have very oily skin and this actually made it worse. I had so much oil on my face it was producing blackheads and making my skin itchy. I didn’t get back to Costco right a way, so I ended up using a sample set from my Sister-in-law. She sells BeautiControl and swears by the stuff. I figured I would try it.I really wanted this stuff to work for me. It just doesn’t do it. My skin broke out with little white heads and was itchy and the fragrance wasn’t nice.I don’t want to say that this is a bad product, it just isn’t right for me.

Cause I have IC, I have to be so careful with the products I use. Using the set of samples from BeautiControl, my IC flareup with in 2 hours. I was not happy. I tried it for 2 more days and my IC got worse. The pain was horrible. I stopped using it and the pain was bearable. I took 4 days off from all products so I could get rid of this flareup I was having.

It finally went away. I got Gregg to take back the cream to Costco and told him to just grab me a bottle of the Olay again. I knew that I could handle that one and it would be ok with my IC. Instead, he calls me from Costco and says they have a new cream in stock and it was on special and asks if I want to try it. He told me it was Elizabeth Arden. I said sure. I’m such a sucker for a new product.

Well, I have been using it for over a week now. It has cleared up all the black heads and the whiteheads. No more itchy feeling. It’s cleared up all the problems from the other products I tried. Plus my skin feels soft and not greasy. It seems to be working well. The price was great. With the coupon it was under 30.00 for 2 jars. These will last for a year or so. It does have a very faint fragrance(which smells very nice), but its gone with in a few minutes. What I really like, it that its a very simple cream. It only has 6 ingredients in it. No extra crap added.

ALLANTOIN, VITAMIN A, GLYCERIN, PANTHENOL, OLIVE OIL, BEES WAX.

So I plan to use it for a while and see how my skin feels after a month. I have a feeling that this will become my regular cream. I’ll update in a month.

Fun With Family

I wasnt really planning on going anywhere today. I did talk to mom last night about getting out to buy a gift for Gregg‘s 40th birthday this friday, but we didnt have any set plans. This morning mom called and said let’s go! So my sister Waltrude picked up mom and then stopped here and I jumped in the car and off we went.

We headed to Walmart to see what we could find. I found a great deal on a set of 3 Starfrit fry pans for 20 bucks. Usually 1 pan costs 20 bucks. I also found a pair of sandals that were 39 bucks regular but were priced down to 5 bucks! They fit great and will look good with jeans.

After Walmart we headed for Zellers and met up with my sister inlaw Gizy for lunch. I got my Jane lipstick and even got Waltrude to try out a new color, 2 in fact. Gizy took off back home, probably to jump in her hot tub. After we said goodbye we walked across the parking lot to the Shoe Company. Where all 3 of us found something we had to have. Waltrude found a nice purse, mom found sleek white shoes and I found cute red sandals. Regular price was 39.99 and on sale 29.99 and I used my points and go them for 22.95 including taxes. Not too bad!

This is the first pair of red shoes I have every bought. I like to stick to neutral colors, but I just could not resist these cuties. I did debate with my inner self for a while in the store. My sister and mom looked at me a bit funny. I finally gave in and did it.

After all the shopping we stopping at Costco for gas 1.29 L. is a good price. Then around the corner to the recycle depot to drop off an old monitor. Finally back here to kick me out and mom and Waltrude are still doing a bit more running around.

We did come up with a few ideas. We have decided that since Mom will have room in her new condo, we will be doing a ladies movie evening once a month. No hubbies and no kids. Sounds like fun to me! I will email all the ladies with the details and we can start doing this in September. Also  I was thinking we can do a “make-up” party. Clothing exchange party, and so many more parties. We will figure it all out.

Whats up today?

Well… I need a hair cut. I have decided I need to find a new salon. The last hair cut was a bad one and it turned me off from the place I had been going to for a few years. So, there is a little shop about 5 blocks from here. I can walk to it if I need. She charges 20 bucks for the cut and extra for any styling I might want. I think I will try her out. I’ll stop in and see if they do walk-ins otherwise I will need to make an appointment. I would get my niece to do it but she lives out in Langley and its a bit hard to get out there for me.

Gregg is home so we will go do our food shopping today. We go to Costco on mondays cause its not as busy. We get what we need there and then head to Save-on Foods for a few things that Costco might not have. After we will come home and relax.

I guess thats my day today.
